Ohaus Frontier™ FC5816 and FC5816R Multi Pro Centrifuges

The Ohaus Frontier™ 5000 Series Multi-Pro Centrifuges are designed for universal use in multiple applications in research, industrial, and clinical laboratories and can be combined with a wide range of rotors and accessories for customized use. The intuitive design of the centrifuges & accessories enable easy access to parameter settings, and quick rotation between applications. They feature automatic rotor recognition and backlit LCD. The performance of these centrifuges is propelled by German engineering, and high-quality components for reliable use. They are constructed of chemical-resistant stainless steel to ensure durability in lab use. Design features include ten acceleration and deceleration rates and selection of running time from 10 s to 99 h 59 min or continuous, quick spin. These Frontier ™ 5000 Series centrifuges are equipped with protective features, including automatic over-speed protection, imbalance detection and a self-diagnostic system to ensure reliable use and operator safety.

These FC5816 models are compatible with up to 13 optional rotors and 71 accessories. Their capacity ranges from microliter (0.2 mL per tube) to 6 x 250 mL. They provide high-speed centrifugation (>10,000 rpm) from 0.2 mL up to 85 mL tubes. These models have improved sample processing through-put with additional rotor for blood collection tubes and standard conical tubes.

The FC5816 is air cooled and has a speed range of 200 - 15,000 rpm with a maximum g-force of 21,379 g. It measures 17.2" w x 2101" d w x 13.9" h (438 × 537 × 354 mm) and has a weight of 115 lb (52 kg).

The FC5816R uses the environmentally friendly R290 refrigerant* which provides a temperature range of -20 to 40°C in 1° C increments. It has a pre-cool feature that quickly lowers the temperature of rotor and chamber before a run. The unit measures 28.4" w × 25.6" d × 18.1" h (820 × 650 × 460 mm) and has a weight of 170 lb (77 kg) without the rotor.

*Starting in 2026, all Ohaus Frontier™ 5000 refrigerated centrifuges switched from R452A (a synthetic F-gas) to the environmentally friendly R290, a natural propane refrigerant with a Global Warming Potential (GWP) of 0.022 (over 700X lower than R452A). Not only does this new refrigerant align with Green Lab initiatives but it is already compliant with the evolving European F-gas regulation 2024/573 and the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Significant New Alternatives Policy (SNAP) Program. In addition, the redesigned refrigeration system enables a 58-82% reduction in refrigerant volume, provides higher energy efficiency and improved cooling performance. The fully sealed refrigeration system design allows for unrestricted international shipment, including air freight.*
