The Ohaus Starter series of electrodes provide accurate and precise measurements of pH, oxidation-reduction potential, conductivity, dissolved oxygen, and temperature. They are compatible with Ohaus's AquaSearcher and Starter Meters. The conductivity electrodes measure the total ionic concentration within a sample. They provide a a rapid and inexpensive method for determining the ionic strength of a solution which is necessary in a wide range of industries. A basic conductivity cell consists of a pair of electrodes that are placed in a sample. The ratio of the distance between the electrodes and their surface is the cell constant which is then related to the conductivity and concentration of the sample solutions.

The STCON5 utilizes a 2-pole potentiometric method that employs 2 platinum rings. It has a 155 mm long glass shaft and a mini-DIN connector. The chemical-resistant glass body makes this electrode useful for general lab applications. Its measuring range is 50 µS/cm-2 mS/cm.

The STCON7 and STCON8 have lower conductivity ranges and are best for ultra-pure water analysis.
