The 3-point contact rule avoids common mounting and dismounting injuries during forklift operation. Just as with a ladder, one should always maintain 3 points of contact (2 feet and 1 hand or 2 hands and one foot) while facing the vehicle. Hopping or jumping in and out may look cool, but it is actually a major cause of forklift-related injury.
