Product Description
The Guardian Equipment AP275-200 electric alarm unit with flashing light and horn is designed for combination safety stations and ensures that others are alerted when the safety shower or eye/face wash is activated. The audio and visual signals ensure immediate coworker response as well as deter malicious activation. With the AP275-205 version, the activation signal can also be sent to a remote monitoring location, making this unit ideal for low-traffic or long travel distance locations as well as laboratories where someone might be working late or alone.

Application: Alarm units serve two important functions when installed in conjunction with emergency eyewash and shower equipment. First, alarms serve to alert facility personnel that an accident has occurred and that assistance to the user may be required. Second, alarms deter unintended or malicious operation of the emergency equipment. For this reason, they are advisable in schools and other areas where the possibility of vandalism is present. Alarms are activated by a flow switch that senses the movement of water in the supply line when the safety unit is activated. Once activated, the bright light flashes and the horn sounds loudly. Installation: These units are designed for use with combination safety stations, and can be mounted on either the vertical pipe of the station or on a wall adjacent to the unit. 120 volt, 0.48 amp electrical supply is required. Visual Signal: Weatherproof amber flashing light with shatter-resistant lens. Audible Signal: Weatherproof horn delivers distinctive, urgent signal. The volume is preset at 100 db at 10 feet. An adjustment screw on the front of the horn allows adjustment of the output sound level. Flow Switch: The AP275-200 features a 1-1/4" IPS single pole, double throw waterproof flow switch for installation in water supply line to emergency unit. The switch senses the flow of water when either the eyewash or shower is activated. The flow switch must be installed with the tee fitting in the horizontal position, flow switch body in the vertical position, and at least 6" from the closest fitting. The direction of flow is marked on the switch body. AP275-205 Option: This is the same as AP275-200 but includes a double pole, double throw flow switch for connection to a monitoring system. When the emergency unit is actuated, the light and horn activate and an electrical signal is sent to a remote monitoring location. Mounting: Furnished complete with a bracket for mounting on vertical pipe or wall, junction box, and 5 foot flexible, NEMA 4X cord and receptacle. Electrical connection by others. Quality Assurance: Each unit is fully assembled, wired and factory tested prior to shipment. Silencing Option: An SW silencing switch for the alarm horn. This is convenient when the accident victim has to shower for prolonged periods. The switch is NEMA 4X rated and designed for non-hazardous areas. High Voltage Option: The unit is designed for use with 208-240 VAC at 50/60 Hz. Choose this option only when your country is outside the USA, Canada, Mexico, and other countries that use 120 V wiring. A list of electrical main voltages and frequencies is available at Wikipedia.
