These Safety Disposal Cans are equipped with quick-disconnect fittings that make them ideal for HPLC waste applications. Each can has two valved quick-disconnect fittings (one for liquid intake and one for vapor release/venting) that automatically close when decoupled. When a pump-fed or gravity-flow HPLC system is attached to the liquid intake, the solvent flows freely into the waste container. Optional manifolds enable up to six waste lines (per manifold) to be fed into a single intake fitting. An optional coalescing/carbon filter can be used on the vent fitting to control odors. This system eliminates back pressure in the liquid flow disposal line and provides controlled handling of vapor. The easy-on, easy-off quick disconnect mechanism prevents leaks, drips and vapor release.

The translucent white polyethylene color allows for a fast visual inspection of the liquid level. The 3.65" (93 mm) diameter pouring spout is equipped with a stainless steel flame arrester, which reliably dissipates heat to prevent flashback ignition and the spring-loaded, sealed lid automatically vents to guard against explosion. In addition, these cans are equipped with a metal faucet for easy transfer of the contained liquid.

Both fittings are made of stainless-steel and come with PTFE O-rings but there are two options for tubing size:

  • Item #02154-6 accommodates tubing with an inner diameter of 0.25" (6 mm)
  • Item #02154-10 accommodates tubing with an inner diameter of 0.375" (10 mm)

These 5-gallon (19 L) round cans are 20" (508 mm) high and have a 12" (305 mm) outer diameter. They have a net weight of 11 lb (5.0 kg).

These containers comply with US OSHA 1910 and NFPA Code 30 requirements both with and without the HPLC filter. The cans themselves are FM approved but they have not been tested for FM-approval in assembly with the filter.
