- Ansul Sentry Carbon Dioxide Fire Extinguishers
Product Description
These Ansul Sentry carbon dioxide extinguishers protect areas where class B (flammable liquids and gases) or Class C (energized electrical equipment) fires could occur. They may be used indoors where winds and drafts do not affect discharge or where a clean extinguishing agent is required. Typical applications include laboratories and electronic equipment.
Sentry carbon dioxide extinguishers are available in one-piece, powder-coated steel or lightweight aluminum shells in capacities of 5 lb (2.27 kg), 10 lb (4.54 kg), 15 lb (6.80 kg) and 20 lb (9.07 kg).The steel shell option features a fluted-base design to resist corrosion and help prolong service life while the aluminum version is sturdy and lightweight. The extinguishers are easy to operate and maintain while offering a six-year limited warranty from the date of delivery. A wall hanger hook is included with each; with the optional heavy-duty vehicle bracket, (sold separately) the 5, 10 and 15 lb models are USCG approved for marine use. All models are UL listed and all aluminum models are also ULC listed.
Need something bigger? We carry 50 and 100 lb wheeled units; see item # 09586.
Application Note: Paragraph 10.9.4 of the 2017 Edition of NFPA 96 specifically prohibits the use of carbon dioxide extinguishers for kitchen fires. Class K extinguishers (see item # 09540) should be provided instead. The 2018 edition of NFPA 99 states at 16.9.1.3 that "Clean agent or water-mist type fire extinguishers shall be provided in operating rooms" and in A.16.19.1.3. "Dry chemical fire extinguishers should not be provided in operating rooms. The clean agent extinguishers selected should have a Class A rating of some form." * TECHNICAL NOTE: Ansul discontinued production of all steel handheld carbon dioxde units in January of 2024. They are selling through existing stock and when that's gone, there will be no more. The only steel shell model still in production will be the Mil-Spec (military) CD15 model, p/n 431999.
TECHNICAL NOTE 2: In January of 2021, Ansul changed the nozzle used on their 10, 15, and 20 lb aluminum and steel carbon dioxide extinguishers to use a new nozzle (p/n 451141) which supplants the previously used nozzles. They also upgraded the labelling to trilingual English/Spanish/French.
The pricing on these units includes the per-package HazMat (Hazardous Materials - compressed gas) fee associated with shipping these charged extinguishers. For pallet quantities, we can do better on the pricing as the pallet counts as one package for shipping purposes; contact us for pricing.
The Ansul Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for carbon dioxide is also available.
