Ohaus Frontier™ FC5513, FC5513L and FC5513R Microliter Centrifuge

The Ohaus Frontier™ FC5513 and FC5513R are high-speed (200-13,500rpm) bench top microliter centrifuges capable of generating 17,317 x g with a variety of optional rotors (standard 24 x 1.5/2 mL microtubes with biocontainment option, spin columns and hematocrit capillary tubes) for a range of essential lab applications. Extremely easy and intuitive to use they feature a Touch-Wheel control on a protective splash-proof interface, which allows for responsive operation even when wearing gloves. The brushless quiet motor and small footprint makes them ideal for smaller spaces. The centrifuge has ten acceleration and ten deceleration rates, pre-selection of running time from 10s to 99h 59min or continuous, audible signal at the end of each run with melody options and quick spin for short runs.

The FC5513 is air cooled. It measures 10.9 w × 14 d × 9.3 h in (277 × 356 × 236mm) and has a weight of 27.8 lb lb (12.6 kg) without the rotor. This centrifuge is available separately or with the 24 x 1.5/2.0 mL BIOSEALS rotor.

A more economical model of this unit, FC5513L, has only ONE rotor which has a maximum capacity of 18 x 1.5/2.0 mL. The centrifuge and rotor are sold together.

The FC5513R uses the environmentally friendly R290 refrigerant* which provides a temperature range of -20 to 40°C in 1° C increments. It has a pre-cool feature that quickly lowers the temperature of rotor and chamber before a run. The unit measures 11.0" w × 21.9" d × 11.3" h (280 × 555 × 287mm) and has a weight of 73 lb (33 kg) without the rotor.

*Starting in 2026, all Ohaus Frontier™ 5000 refrigerated centrifuges switchedfrom R452A (a synthetic F-gas) to the environmentally friendly R290, a natural propane refrigerant with a Global Warming Potential (GWP) of 0.022 (over 700X lower than R452A). Not only does this new refrigerant align with Green Lab initiatives but it is already compliant with the evolving European F-gas regulation 2024/573 and the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Significant New Alternatives Policy (SNAP) Program. In addition, the redesigned refrigeration system enables a 58-82% reduction in refrigerant volume, provides higher energy efficiency and improved cooling performance. The fully sealed refrigeration system design allows for unrestricted international shipment, including air freight.*
