- Guardian G604X Series Tempering Valves w/ Surface or Recess Mounted Cabinets
Product Description
These enclosures feature a Guardian G6040 Thermostatic Mixing Valve (TMV or tempering valve) in the following configurations:
G6041 - Surface-Mounted Powder-Coated Steel Cabinet.
G6042 - Surface-Mounted Stainless Steel Cabinet.
G6043 - Recess-Mounted Powder-Coated Steel Cabinet.
G6044 - Recess-Mounted Stainless Steel Cabinet.
These valves are ideal for providing the tepid water required for safety showers and combination safety stations per ANSI Standard Z358.1-2014. See the G6040 product page for full information on the valve component.
The G6020 and G6040 series of TMV's are the next-generation replacements for older style TMV's and have several important advantages:
- Higher capacities; only two sizes are required for the entire product line.
- A lower pressure drop at key flow rates.
- Better technology. The precision wax element provides years of hassle-free operation compared to older bi-metal coils which need frequent maintenance and potentially expensive repair kits.
- Lower initial as well as maintenance costs.
Options Available: Customers may specify the type of door style, door hinge side, and piping configuration. The default standard is the 1R1 configuration. While the pricing is the same, specifying a configuration other than 1R1 may result in a longer lead time as the cabinet will be built on demand.
Application Note: Pursuant to ANSI Z358.1-2014, the water delivered by emergency equipment should be "tepid". Tepid is defined as moderately warm or lukewarm, and is generally considered to be between 60 °F (15 °C) and 100 °F (38 °C). However, in certain circumstances, a chemical reaction may be accelerated or otherwise affected by the water temperature. Please consult with a medical advisor to determine the optimum delivered water temperature prior to specifying, installing or using a tempering valve.
Tempering valves will not deliver the appropriate water temperature if the system has not been sized correctly. Please refer to the flow capacities and supply pressure requirements listed above when designing the tempered water system and selecting tempering valves.
Tempering valves, like all emergency eyewash and shower equipment, must be installed in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions and maintained on a regular basis. Under ANSI Z358.1-2014, all emergency equipment should be activated weekly and inspected at least annually. Tempering valves should be treated the same and, in addition, must be regularly cleaned and cycled.
