- Thermometer, Non-Mercury, Variable Immersion, -10 to 250 °C
Product Description
This thermometer is mineral spirit filled to eliminate the workplace and environmental hazards of mercury. It has a white back and a 6 to 7 mm outer diameter. The temperature range is -10 to 250 °C with 1 degree subdivisions. It is constructed of two types of tubing sealed together below the scale where the stem portion is made of very fine bore glass to minimize correction factors at immersion depths other than the mid-point of the stem. The scale portion is made of wide bore glass to facilitate reading the thermometer. Each thermometer is supplied with an instruction sheet and a list of correction factors. Choose from immersion ranges of 76-178 mm (3-7 inches) or 178-305 mm (7-12 inches).
Technical note: Fixed (or partial) immersion thermometers are to be submerged to the measurement line indicated on the thermometer for an accurate reading; a typical depth is 3". A variable (or total) immersion must be submerged to the within 1 cm of the thermometer’s liquid level for an accurate reading. A total immersion thermometer can the completely immersed, although it's difficult to read the scale.
Total/variable immersion thermometers are more precise because the liquid column is not exposed to ambient air. However the accuracy of each is the same.
